Chronicle of the Week: A Clos in the Spotlight
For many lovers of great whites, Clos Sainte Hune is one of the world’s greatest Rieslings.
The 1.67-hectare parcel of Clos Sainte Hune is located mid-slope of the Grand Cru Rosacker, a magical terroir in Hunawihr. It has been in the Trimbach family for over 200 years.
Ancient legend has it that in the time of the Kings, during a year of famine, Huna, the wife of Hunon, King of Hunawihr, managed to turn the water in the village fountain into wine. This legend of Saint Huna gave the name to this exceptional parcel.
The wines made from it are pure, complex and powerful, with a rare elegance and phenomenal length.
