Chronicle of the Week: “Bruno Lorenzon, attention to detail”
After a first life as a consultant with Tonnellerie de Mercurey, Bruno Lorenzon took over the family domaine in 1997.
Comprising 9 hectares on the best terroirs of the Côte Chalonnaise, 6 hectares on Mercurey and 3 hectares on Montagny, the estate is now one of the region’s elite.
Bruno is a perfectionist, as evidenced by his top-flight viticulture: high planting density, high trellising, soil cultivation, low yields, no chaptalization or acidification.
Bruno selects his own wood in order to design his own barrels.
His Mercurey red Premier Cru Carline Clos des Champs Martins is a serious wine that combines energy and maturity. With its obvious potential, it can look to the future with great serenity.
“On Champs Martins, there are 21 owners cultivating 13 hectares, and we’re lucky enough to make 3.5 hectares, including the lower part, the Clos, which is the beginning. For me, it’s the Grand Cru of this Premier Cru. ” Bruno Lorenzon
