Chronicle of the Week: Great Rhodanian white wine!
This cuvée comes from a small plot of land planted exclusively with Roussane in the Saint-Joseph appellation, overlooking the Pierre-Jean Villa winery.
The last vines are just a few centimetres from the granite cliff that plunges down onto the estate, and could serve as the take-off point for “an angel’s leap”.
Vinified in 15 hectoliter foudres, demi-muids and stoneware jars, and aged for 12 months, this Saut de l’Ange cuvée shines in 2020 with its finely exotic notes of acacia, honey and apricot, while retaining a subtle, fresh grain.
