Chronicle of the Week: “Sylvain Pataille, winemaker on a crusade”
An ardent defender of the terroirs of Marsannay and Chenôve and of the Aligoté grape variety, Sylvain Pataille is a winemaker in the image of his wines: sincere, engaging and full of vitality.
Starting out with a single rented hectare in 1999, by dint of hard work and determination, he has succeeded in carving out a place for himself, and today is the proud manager of 17 hectares of vines.
An advocate of terroir-based wines, he is an ardent defender of the return of the Aligoté grape to the forefront, with no fewer than 7 different cuvées at the Domaine.
Dazzlingly fruity, floral and supple, his excellent Marsannay rouge “Les Longeroies” is dense, fine and deep all at once, a breathtaking interpretation.
“We have a magical fruit, a fruit capable of mimicry, of reproducing all the aromas that surround it. ” Sylvain Pataille
