Chronicle of the Week: Domaine Bott
After starting out in their garage, winemaking couple Julie and Graeme Bott have now settled in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation, in Ampuis.
While Julie grew up in the region, Graeme arrived in the Rhône Valley from New Zealand in 2010.
Dating back to Roman times, a magical place steeped in history, opposite the Côte-Rôtie, the Seyssuel hillsides are gradually being reborn after almost disappearing.
The 100% Syrah cuvée “Kāmaka”, which means rock, pebble in Māori, is produced on the micaschists of the exceptional Roche Couloure terroir in Seyssuel.
Congratulations to the @graemejuliebott domaine for its exquisite, intense and harmonious interpretation of Seyssuel terroirs!
“Our only solution was to find uncultivated plots. There’s no more land for sale and buying plots that are already in production is almost unthinkable.” Julie Bott
