Weekend Tasting: Domaine Sérol, from shadow to light

Located in the granite foothills of the Massif Central, halfway between Lyon and Clermont-Ferrand, at the roots of the Loire, Domaine Sérol has been skilfully run by Carine and Stéphane Sérol since 1996.
A little corner of paradise in the middle of the Volcanic Loire, the Côte Roannaise appellation was formalized in 1994 for red and rosé wines, with the sole use of Gamay Saint-Romain.
Produced from hillside vines planted at high density, 8,000 to 10,000 vines per hectare, on granitic sand soils at altitudes ranging from 380 to 520 meters, Domaine Sérol’s Côtes Roannaises are the perfect expression of the identity of each terroir.
The reds share a delicately smoky, floral expression of Gamay Saint-Romain. Gourmet and aromatic par excellence, they offer a magnificent palette of aromas intermingling red fruits, pepper and spices.

Join us at the Boutique this Friday and Saturday to discover two splendid Côtes Roannaises, both graceful and complex, from the talented Domaine Sérol:
DOMAINE SÉROL | Côte Roannaise “Éclat de Granite” 2021
DOMAINE SÉROL | Côte Roannaise “Perdrizière” 2020

“Granite gives a silkier dimension to Gamay, a more subtle side, it’s much more elegant than on limestone.”
Stéphane Sérol
