Weekend Tasting: Jean-Baptiste Ponsot, no longer exactly a newcomer
Located in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, in the winegrowing village of Rully, Domaine Ponsot was created by Lucien Ponsot in 1954, as part of a mixed farming operation.
Lucien’s grandson and proud of his Burgundian roots, the talented Jean-Baptiste Ponsot took over the domaine in 2000, aged just 20.
Today, he skilfully oversees 9 hectares of vines on the best slopes of the Rully appellation, mostly Premiers Crus, producing two-thirds white and one-third red wines.
With this rare 2021 vintage, the balance between concentration and freshness is remarkable. The Chardonnays are well-balanced, fresh and creamy, with a floral and mineral backdrop. The light-colored Pinot Noir has a fresh nose of acidic red fruit and rose.
Join us at the Boutique this Friday and Saturday to discover Jean-Baptiste Ponsot’s style through two splendid examples of Rully, perfectly combining authenticity and finesse:
DOMAINE JEAN-BAPTISTE PONSOT – Rully Blanc “En Bas de Vauvry” 2021
DOMAINE JEAN-BAPTISTE PONSOT – Rully Rouge 2021
“My commitment is to do my utmost to produce wines of the highest quality.”
Jean-Baptiste Ponsot
