Weekend tasting: “Le Clos du Caillou, feet in the sand”.

Situated just outside Courthézon, in the north-east of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the Domaine Clos du Caillou is run with style by Sylvie Vacheron and her children, Marilou and Axel, supported by Bruno Gaspard, the technical manager.
With 53 hectares of vines spread over two appellations, Côte du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the vineyard is planted mainly with Grenache and has been certified organic since 2010.
Despite being 17 hectares classified as Côtes-du-Rhône, the Clos du Caillou is landlocked in the middle of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, because of the experts responsible for delimiting the appellation refusing to visit.
