Weekend Tasting: “Domaine Roty, Pinot Noir that’s right and accomplished”

Located in the northern Côte de Nuits, in the distinguished village of Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Joseph Roty has a long tradition of winegrowing dating back to the early 18th century.
It was officially in 1960 that Joseph Roty inherited his grandfather’s vineyards and founded the eponymous domaine. On his death in 2008, his two sons Philippe and Pierre-Jean took over the reins of the estate, representing the 11th generation of winemakers.
The estate holds a significant proportion of old Pinot Fin vines, notably in their emblematic Gevrey-Chambertin Champs Chenys parcel, and some of them are over a hundred years old in their Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin.
A pioneer of modern winemaking, the domaine still practices total destemming and high levels of maturity. The estate’s Pinot Noir wines, fair and accomplished, are models of longevity.

Join us at the Boutique this Friday and Saturday to discover two shades of Pinot Noir at the dawn of their maturity.
