Weekend Tasting: “Grenache Pinot, the twin brothers”

Lebanese-born Mounir Saouma has made a name for himself with his extraordinary Burgundy range, Domaine Lucien Le Moine, a haute couture micro-negociant created in 1999 with his wife Rotem.
Ten years later, in 2009, the couple decided to also work with passion and talent in the Vallée du Rhône Méridionale, notably in Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Instantly, it’s the perfect combination of elegant Burgundian savoir-faire and powerful Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir. “I love Burgundy, of course, but I’ve always drunk Châteauneuf.
He applies the same winemaking and ageing precepts to Grenache as to Pinot Noir, with a partially de-stemmed harvest, cold pre-fermentation maceration for up to a week and long ageing periods. The result is wines of great emotion!

Join us at the Boutique this Friday and Saturday to discover the inimitable style of Rotem and Mounir Saouma through two splendid, deep and charming Côtes du Rhône Villages:
DOMAINE ROTEM ET MOUNIR SAOUMA – Côtes du Rhône Villages Blanc “Inopia” 2020
DOMAINE ROTEM ET MOUNIR SAOUMA – Côtes du Rhône Villages Rouge “Inopia” 2020

“I love the similarities between Pinot and Grenache. Both make silky, elegant wines, and have Black, White and Grey versions.” Mounir Saouma
