Weekend Tasting: “Domaine Samuel Billaud, freshness and brilliance”

Located halfway between Beaune and Paris, 20 kilometers east of Auxerre, the Chablis vineyards stretch across the valleys on either side of the banks of the Serein.
Planted exclusively with Chardonnay grapes, the Chablis vineyards are planted on Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in Exogyra Virgula, providing an exceptional terroir for the best areas of the appellation.
Samuel Billaud, a Chardonnay virtuoso from a very old Chablis family, is the sixth generation of winemakers. After 20 years as a winemaker and winemaker at the Billaud-Simon family estate, Samuel set up his own domaine in 2010.
Following the sale of the Billaud-Simon family estate to Faiveley in 2014, Samuel reclaimed 4 hectares of vines on the slopes of Chablis’ finest terroirs.
Radiant, luminous, mineral and elegant, his Chablis wines stand out with panache among the best examples of the appellation.

We look forward to seeing you at the boutique this Friday and Saturday to come and discover with us two Chablis Premiers Crus with all the sparkle and freshness of the brilliant Samuel Billaud :
DOMAINE SAMUEL BILLAUD | Chablis 1er Cru “Les Vaillons” 2020
DOMAINE SAMUEL BILLAUD | Chablis 1er Cru “Mont de Milieu” 2020

“I don’t work in 228-litre barrels, but in 456-litre barrels, which is twice as much. The woodiness is much more discreet; the barrel should be a support, not a contribution. Samuel Billaud
