Located in the heart of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Domaine David Duband produces wines with a strong personality and remarkable balance. The estate’s 20.5 hectares of ultra-varied plots (from the Hautes-Côtes to the Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits) reveal wines of exemplary consistency.
Initially known as Domaine Pierre Duband, after his father, David Duband renamed the family estate in the 1990s, bringing his own fresh, modern touch to the wines. Breaking with the family tradition of selling all production to the Beaune Cooperative, David Duband chose to vinify the estate’s grapes himself, infusing them with an energy all their own.
To be totally in line with his values, the domaine converted its entire vineyard to organic farming in 2006. Following this change, David Duband has noticed that the wines are maturing more perfectly, and since then they have shown fantastic ageing potential, while remaining accessible in their early years. Letting the terroir of each parcel express itself, he chooses to vinify most of the grapes whole (an unusual practice in Burgundy). This gives depth and intensity to the wines, which nonetheless reveal incomparable elegance and aromatics. By magnifying some of the Côte de Nuits’ most prestigious appellations, such as Clos de la Roche and Chambertin, David Duband has established himself as one of Burgundy’s leading winemakers.
