A legend in Meursault, Domaine des Comtes Lafon produces some of the finest expressions of this emblematic appellation. Always acclaimed but never equaled, the domaine’s wines are pure, elegant and authentic.

It all began at the end of the 19th century, when Jules Lafon met Marie Boch, daughter of a wealthy Meursault family of proprietors and merchants who owned the famous Clos de la Barre parcel. Their union and Jules Lafon’s talent for “unearthing” parcels with magical terroirs marked the destiny of the domaine we all know today. Always part of the Lafon family, Dominique, the fourth generation at the helm since the 1980s, has passed on his work and convictions to his daughter Léa and nephew Pierre, who have recently taken over the running of the family estate. Rich in the same values as their forebears, they keep the spirit of the domaine alive and take the quality of Meursault wines to the highest level.
Aware that wine is first and foremost made in the vineyard, they continue along the path trodden for years by Dominique Lafon, aiming to steer the estate towards a cultural approach that is as respectful as possible of its environment. At the end of the 1990s, the entire estate was cultivated according to biodynamic principles, with very little human intervention to allow the terroir to express itself to the full in each of the cuvées produced.
Comprising a very wide range of parcels, most of which are Premiers Crus, the estate has only one Grand Cru, but not the least: Montrachet.
The Lafon playground is not limited to the Côte de Beaune. In the late 1990s, Dominique Lafon began buying up parcels in the Mâconnais region, convinced of the potential of these wonderful terroirs. Since then, Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon have been producing wines of remarkable depth and aromatic intensity. Talent is undeniably hereditary within the Lafon family.
