In Burgundy, the name Noellat rarely leaves anyone indifferent. Founder of the eponymous domaine, Georges Noellat raised his estate to the same level as its illustrious Vosne-Romanée neighbors, such as Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Domaine Liger-Belair and Domaine Emmanuel Rouget.

When Georges Noellat passed away in 1984, his wife took over, keeping the estate going until 1986, when she handed over the reins to her daughter, Marie-Thérèse. Marie-Thérèse’s grandson, Maxime took over the running of the estate in 2009 at just 20 years of age. Far from being overwhelmed by the viticultural heritage he inherits, he puts all his energy into the vines to offer wines worthy of the prestigious appellations that give them birth. His arrival marks a renewal of the domaine, where Maxime is determined to make the expression of each terroir in the wine his priority. No chemical treatments, no mechanical work, everything is done by hand to preserve the fragile ecosystem of the vineyard and respect biodiversity.
In the cellar, too, gentleness is the order of the day, and human intervention is kept to a minimum to preserve the essence of each terroir and its expression in the wine. The taste and texture of the wines produced prove Maxime right: the aromas are intense and the textures deep and silky. To broaden the range, Maxime also produces cuvées under the “Maxime Cheurlin-Noellat” label, made from grapes purchased from producers who share the same ethic as the domaine. All the wines produced are of exemplary quality, with superb ageing potential.
