Long maligned, the Condrieu appellation has been back in the spotlight since the 1960s, thanks to the meticulous, relentless work of Mr. Georges Vernay, nicknamed the “Pope of Condrieu”.

Talent runs in the family at Domaine Vernay. Christine Vernay, Georges’ daughter, arrived at the domaine in 1996 and established its reputation by continuing her father’s work.
Following in her father’s footsteps, her aim is to sublimate Viognier, allowing it to express to the full the identity of the terroir in which it was born. Far from its usual shortcomings of lack of freshness and aromatic exuberance, Christine Vernay allows it to show its slender, pure and refined profile through white wines of assertive character. Literally clinging to the hillsides, the vines are pampered and respected in their singularity, delivering grapes of exemplary ripeness. Red wine lovers will not be outdone, as the domaine produces Côte-Rôtie wines of magical fruit and concentration, combining freshness and intensity.
Since 2020, Christine has been accompanied by her daughter, Emma, who has joined her at the domaine. At the helm of a legendary estate, they give Syrah and Viognier their finest letters of nobility and carry the colors of the family heritage high.
