Less publicized than his colleagues whose names sometimes generate a great deal of speculation, Gilbert Picq produces Chablis of stunning precision and purity. The wines are never austere, with ripe fruit and great length. A very fine Chablis emotion.
Eager to discover this estate located in Chichée. Established in this village south-east of Chablis since the 19th century, Gilbert Picq has made a name for itself with its Chablis Vieilles Vignes, made from vines over 60 years old. The entire range, including Premiers Crus Vosgros and Vaucoupin, is of exemplary consistency. The freshness that emanates from each cuvée is never at the expense of optimum ripeness, and is preserved by stainless steel tank ageing, which lends characteristic floral notes to these off-the-beaten-track Chablis wines. The ageing potential of the estate’s cuvées is impressive and makes us want to forget about our bottles in the cellar for a few years.
