Gevrey-Chambertin is one of the most prestigious appellations on the Côte de Nuits. Today, Domaine Sérafin joins this list and raises its wines to the level of the village’s greatest.
Third generation at the head of the domaine, cousins Karine Sérafin and Frédérique Goulley take great care of the wine heritage acquired by their grandfather in 1947. The 1980s saw Christophe Sérafin, Karine’s father, become deeply involved in the life of the estate and produce top-quality wines. By significantly developing the global marketing of bottles and export sales, he enables wine lovers the world over to discover his work and gain access to the finest parcels of Gevrey-Chambertin.
The estate pays particular attention to its vines and plants, abolishing the use of weedkillers and preserving the development of the soil’s natural microbial life. Produced from low yields, the grapes are concentrated and display exemplary ripeness. In the cellar, they are gently de-stemmed, gently pressed and aged for many months in barrels before being offered for tasting.
The fruit of meticulous, precise work, Domaine Sérafin wines have magnificent aromatic depth and reveal themselves marvelously after a few years’ cellaring, to those who know how to wait.
